Blackburn Art Gallery Visit

On our first week of the course we went to visit Blackburn Museum to see what the art gallery was like there. As I am interested more in paintings/drawings of people, and portraiture is my preferred medium, this 1865 painting by Frederic Leighton firstly caught my eye. I appreciate how life-like the painting has been made through using oil on canvas. As most of the work in Blackburn museum is of a Victorian era I decided it would be interesting to try interpreting this piece by making it more modern, e.g. changing the clothes they are wearing and the surroundings the two girls are in.
